Velvet. Hmmm....sometimes it conjures up memories...the good and the bad. Ornate crushed velvet chairs with hard tufting on your old Aunt Bee's arm chair (bad) or a flowy velvet dress layered with a velvet vest worn by Stevie Nicks (good). The trend is back for the fall and more useful than ever.

My client's sofas. Slipcovered in Kravet's stain repellent, light weight velvet. It's available in 36 colorways and I've already used it in two client's homes this year. Seriously, I picked it's 2 lightest shades of cream and tested it with red sauce, ketchup, and a cabernet. Then I washed it with a little soap and water and it came clean! No spots--nada! Not only is it a beautiful trend, but can be practical. Wow.

Not sure which I covet more... the gorgeous gray antique settee or the gorgeous green Gucci dress! Hmm, maybe a soft velvety pillow will suffice.
