NY GIft Show!

What do you do when you're about 15,000 ft. in the air (& climbing!) on your way to LA? You do a post about the NY international gift fair, that's what! With my Mac, water, raw chashews and my blanky I'm comfortable enough to get on line and post-post-post! So, here it is...I checked out the gift show over the weekend and it never disappoints. Here's a sampling of a few fab companies that I'll definitely use in future design jobs!

Fun at the NYIGF

Hi friends! It was that time of year again...the NYIGF at the Jacob Javits center and at the Piers in NYC last week. I had a lot of fun hanging out with friends and meeting new ones.

Congrats to Coco of CocoCozy, fellow blogger and entrepreneur for having an amazing booth. Wishing her much success with her textiles shop! Check out her blog for some great finds and inspiration!
Another wonderful booth I visited was Diane James Home. If you go to a show house or an upscale store here in the city, or the tri-state for that matter, chances are you'll find their beautiful flowers displayed. Visit their store or check out their blog (the buzz) to purchase directly from them.

It was a whirlwind of fun for the week. Last year I promised myself I wouldn't book any of my shows during gift fair week because it's too exhausting, and... well, I broke my promise.  I had a blast but the next day at the gift show I was dragging. Note to self: next gift show take the week off from performing.
Pendelton blankets have such colorful patterns in wool...

British Cottage furniture. They have beautifully worn pieces that you can also find at their store in Red Bank, NJ!
Gorgeous Rani Arabella cashmere throws and blankets from Italy.

Tara Shaw antiques and reproductions. Lovely painted, wood, and upholstered furniture.
PomPom at home bedding. They have cotton and Linen to choose from.

If you're into fur, Adri has a luxurious line of pillows and throws.
The last day at the gift fair I decided to lighten things up and start my shopping day at Pier 92 with...
the oh-so-much-fun, temporary tattoo kit called Glitter-toos. It retails for about $18.00 and would be the hit of any kid (or, um grown-ups will like it too!) party. Here I'm at their booth getting glitter stars on my wrist (and taking the opp to sit down after a week of walking!). I'm not a tattoo person, but this temporary thing is a perfect fun alternative!
 The Kit.
The patterns to choose from...
And the result!
I also had a temporary star ring tattoo put on my finger. The ring was a big hit at the rest of the booths that I went to throughout the day.
This was on the guy who worked at the booth. Um, yeah... I do too. That's why I moved here.
Next up is Gratitude Designs by Tara Dixon. It's a company based on acknowledgment and gratitude. Tara is a painter from Brooklyn who, last year started a series of paintings with the words "thank you" inscribed into the last layer of wet paint. The words "thank you" are etched into the top portion of the canvas.  The product line consists of reproductions of the original 12" x 12" canvases, greeting cards and gratitude journals and tee-shirts.  These are meant to be a mantra or reminder--well, thank you, Tara!

And speaking of gratitude, I want to thank you, my friends, for your readership and for hanging out with me. See you tomorrow. xo

The NYC Gift Show 2011

Here are some photos from this year's NYIGF

First stop was  Two's Company.  And, not because they give you a free bag and a bottle of water-- btw, my parched lips send a big thank you for that.

This show rocked and Two's Company did not disappoint.  They have several consecutive booths set up to show off their varied styles within their line including modern, classic traditional, beachy, funky, kitschy, and mid-century, to name just a few.

Check out some of their new accessories that you'll be sure to see in your favorite home store. Even if you're not a design professional or have access to a resale number, a lot of the exhibitors including Two's Company,  have an on-line retail store in addition to their wholesale division. Sorry. There's no trade pricing in their on-line retail store, but at least you have access without having to go through a designer.

Enjoy the photos. More to come end of this week!

As you can see they have a multitude of products from feedsack pillows to distressed trunks and woven stools and oversized clocks.

Beautiful displays. This green works so well with those framed black & white photos.

Very cool beveled and straight cut mirrors

They have this fun line that includes old posters and this amazing star burst mirror that's made out of recycled magazines! Very funky. I'm calling it hippy chic. (Item #7809 / 35" dia.)

They also have a many different styles of kitchen items including milk glass pitchers, silverware, dessert plates and old-style aprons.
