My Project...as simple as black & white

wOw!! I love a black and white bathroom!!
Here's a project I did a few years back--back when I wasn't doing stand up and writing...anyway it still feels fresh to me so I thought I'd post it. This is the main bathroom in the front house down the shore.  I never get tired of this look.
The crackled mirrors are from Crate and Barrel, the blue garden stool is from Home Goods, sinks are from Home Depot and the faucets from SignatureHardware.com. I installed the black and white floor tiles myself and also hand stenciled the flower wall border. I painted the outside of the claw foot tub black and you can't see the feet, but I painted them silver.

Yeah, like I said--I had a lot of free time back then:) Someday I'll have the walls tiled. I already know what I want...white subway tiles with black grout...but, I'll definitely hire someone for that and to paint. I'm considering having the door painted black! What do you think?? See my inspiration in a couple of photos below.

There's something timeless and fresh about it.  And, it always feels "clean".  Below are some of my favorites. Check 'em out!

That's my favorite sink!
You can never go wrong with checkerboard. It's a classic.
These are the most spectacular shower doors I've ever seen!

Love the floor.

This floor tile is stunning.

Art in the loo

I was lucky enough to stay at a good friend's place in LA. The fact that it was beautiful was an extra bonus! Check out the photo above of one of her bathrooms with the plum/cream Madeline Weinrib area rug we found! (I helped her decorate). My friend is an amazing artist and was the inspiration for this post since she has some fabulous art, not only throughout her home, but most intriguingly, in her bathroom!  I have art on my bathroom walls too, but the wall of art she created has such a wow factor.
OK...see what I mean? Art in her spa tub area too! Lovely! She'll be selling her art on a retail level soon and when she does, I'll have her contact info for you!
Here are some other inspiring photos of art in the loo!

The Loo

I've been considering replacing our bathtub and one of these years it just might happen. I keep thinking about how it'll go down and it would probably be something like this... First we'll pick out the tub, then since the contractors will have to disrupt the wall tile surrounding the tub, we'll need new tile. Then I'll see the new tub and new tile and want a new, bigger built-in closet. The existing closet is in the wall behind the door and it's a decent size but there's room for it to be taller and wider. Then, of course the room would have to be re-painted, with new lighting, and the white carrera marble floor I've always wanted and for good measure, a frameless shower door! Whew! I'm exhausted just thinking about.  Nah, I think for now I'll just pick up some new towels and call it a day. Meantime, here're some of my inspirations. Which one is your favorite?
