Working from home...or wherever there's power!

Hello my friends. My post Tuesday was set on a timer in anticipation that the storm would cause a potential blackout...and yep, no power! I hope everyone is safe and had little or no damage during hurricane Sandy.
It's day 4 and without much food or water or ATM access, I may resort to selling off hubby's guitars (kidding)...(sort of).  Leaving our dark apartment and entering the nearby lit world of civilization with street lights working, businesses open and where flashlights aren't a necessity, I felt like a Chilean coal miner (Ok, that was a bit dramatic) As I type I realize how lucky I am to get a seat and food in a very crowded Starbucks a few blocks north of our hood since every place I passed yesterday was filled to capacity. Today I was armed with a power strip. With 7 outlets on my strip, I found myself to be a very popular person--giving power to not only my laptop, phone, the kind person who let me replace the single plug he was using, but also to 4 other people waiting on a long line to get a power source.

I got the idea yesterday evening when...

Venturing out and looking for a power source (and trying to steer clear from the dangerous crane that looms, much like King Kong, atop a nearby building), we stayed close to home on the east side where we found a crowd of people standing around a column in front of a building on 3rd Ave. I noticed everybody had their phones on the ground with their charges plugged into a power strip connected to an outlet on that column! Of course I had my phone and charger with me and was able to plug in as well. It was quite a scene as you can see. Between that and my current temporary office at Starbucks, it gives a whole new meaning to the post I had prepared for today about home offices.. Now it's about working anywhere there's power and wifi! Timely, yes? So, enjoy the beautiful room photos and know that in a time of crises, any place with power and wi-fi is a beautiful place to work and create. Stay safe and dry...and plugged in. xoxo

Glad you are OK! Perhaps a post on beautiful Power strips and chargers? Most are so ugly.

It's so lucky for me to find your blog! So great! Just one suggestion: It will be better and easier to follow if your blog can offer rrs subscription service.

When I initially commented I clicked the "Notify me when new comments are added" checkbox and
now each time a comment is added I get four emails
with the same comment. Is there any way you can remove me from that service?
Cheers!
